Reporting to the Vice President, Medical Affairs, the Research Program Manager is responsible for managing and executing a range of hospital-based research projects, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and priorities. This role involves coordinating research activities from inception through dissemination, supporting compliance with ethical guidelines, and building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Research Program Manager will act as a key liaison between the hospital and its academic partners, including the Sault Ste. Marie Academic Medical Association, Clinical Trials, and the Northeastern Ontario Health Hub, fostering strong, collaborative relationships to support research goals.
Job Duties
• Oversee the development and execution of projects created by members of the Medical Affairs Committee.
• Ensure linkages between medical staff led projects and the Hospital’s overall quality improvement plan and strategy.
• Develop and oversee research strategies and projects in alignment with hospital goals.
• Make informed recommendations regarding all aspects of research activities.
• Participate in forming and managing research project teams.
• Assist in selecting and liaising with external research partners and collaborators.
• Advise research teams on regulatory and ethical requirements.
• Oversee data collection, analysis, and interpretation for both qualitative and quantitative research.
• Ensure collaboration among investigators and project partners to identify key findings.
• Present findings to diverse stakeholders and support knowledge translation initiatives.
• Implement innovative strategies for sharing research outcomes, such as newsletters, media, and public engagement platforms.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including schedules, budgets, deliverables, and reports.
• Track and report on research progress, outcomes, and compliance.
• Supervise and mentor Research Coordinators and Health Informationist
• Coordinate stakeholder communication and relationship management.
• Review and evaluate research efforts in collaboration with key partners.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the hospital’s research program and its academic partners, including:
o Sault Ste. Marie Academic Medical Association
o Clinical Trials
o Northeastern Ontario Health Hub
• Facilitate collaboration, communication, and alignment of research goals across these organizations.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the hospital’s research program and its academic partners.
• Support joint initiatives, meetings, and reporting requirements to strengthen partnerships.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, social sciences, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in health-related research, with at least 2-3 years in project management.
• Experience leading research teams and managing multifaceted projects.
• Strong knowledge of health research principles, including ethics and patient-oriented research.
• Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
• Proven ability to develop and manage research funding proposals successfully.
• Proficiency in data analysis, report writing, and preparation of ethics applications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to team management.
• Proficiency with research and project management tools, including word-processing, data analysis, and presentation software.
• Ability to navigate complex organizational environments and build effective relationships.
