The Organization

The Group Health Centre is a progressive multi-specialty ambulatory care health care organization and is one of Canada’s first consumer-sponsored health care facilities. As Ontario’s largest and longest-established alternatively funded healthcare organization, Group Health Centre provides primary care to over 50,000 Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District residents, as well as various clinical programs to our entire community. In addition, Group Health Centre’s recently established the Access Care Clinic, led by Nurse Practitioners. The clinic provides access to essential healthcare services to recently de-rostered patients in the community as a temporary solution to current Primary Care Physician recruitment challenges.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dietitian to join our newly established and innovative Primary Care Support Team. In this role, the Dietitian will conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments, develop personalized care plans, and provide education to patients and their families, both in individual and group settings. As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, the Dietitian will collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care, focusing on patient education, empowerment, and encouragement. The Dietitian will also develop and implement appropriate nutritional care plans tailored to various age groups and medical conditions, ensuring the highest standard of care.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of a recognized university with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition or equivalent and successful completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship Program
  • Registered as a member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario in good standing

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate may possess:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a clinical setting
  • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) Certificate and asset

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a flexible and creative approach to problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive assessment, care planning and nutrition education for patients and families
  • Proven practice of providing patients with education, empowerment and encouragement
  • Direct experience working with all ages spanning the lifecycle
  • Demonstrated professional knowledge of nutrition therapy and experience working with primary care providers, patients and caregivers
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and other agencies, displaying good clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Well-developed self-awareness, self-management and social awareness skills
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • A solid track record of maintaining privacy and confidentiality in the workplace
  • Proven dedication to demonstrating GHC's values

Compensation & Benefits:

$64,408.50 – $80,476.50 annually (commensurate with experience)
