We are looking for a Family Engagement Program Intern for a full-time 1-year contract position. The Family Engagement Program is a collaborative initiative between Family Support Services and dedicated volunteer family advisors aimed at enhancing the support offered to families while they access THRIVE services. The program provides specialized services to support the entire family through their caregiving journey and creates opportunity for families to provide feedback on THRIVE programs, policies, and procedures. The Family Engagement Program Intern (FEP Intern) will support the development of THRIVE's Family Engagement program. Working with the Family Support Services team, the FEP Intern will develop a framework for the program as well as create resources and training materials for families in the program, and develop program evaluation methods to identify areas of improvement. This position will work Monday thru Friday, 37.5 hours a week. (there will be minimal evening work to attend some Family Advisory Committee meetings).

What we need from you:

- Working towards or recently completed post-secondary education in Social Sciences or Human Services (Preferred) 
- Experience working with children with special needs, their families and the community 
- Are a parent, caregiver, sibling, of a child with special needs, or has lived experience supporting a child with special needs  
- Strong collaborative skills and proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external contacts. 
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, balanced with a passion for supporting and working within a team and are committed to a collaborative, attuned, strengths-based approach to problem solving.  
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a passion for improving the experience for families in the context of THRIVE services.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to clearly explain instructions to others. 
- Ability to work independently with strong time management and organizational skills. 
- Strong research and project planning skills 
- High level attention to detail and superior problem-solving skills  
- Ability to use computer, and various operating systems and applications (MS Office Suite)
- Ability to communicate in both official languages is an asset
- Satisfactory criminal background check (if possible including vulnerable sector screen)
- First Aid and C.P.R. Certification is an asset
- Must be available to work some evenings and weekends;
- Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required

THRIVE Child Development Centre/Centre de développement de l’enfant is an incorporated, non-profit Children’s Treatment Centre made up of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech-language pathologists, social workers, therapy assistants, early childhood educators, ABA Therapists and support staff.
