PUC Services Inc. operates multiple utilities within and around the City of Sault Ste. Marie, including the distribution of electricity, the supply, treatment and distribution of municipal drinking water, and the operation of wastewater treatment facilities.
Watertight Lining (WLS) is part of the PUC Group of Companies and specializes in the rehabilitation of watermains as a fast and cost-effective alternative to replacement. The Foreman is part of WLS’s mobile team that is trained and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to clean, line and disinfect watermains throughout Ontario and Manitoba.
As a PUC employee, seconded to WLS, the Foreman will safely and efficiently deliver client services, supervising crews, and subcontractors, maintaining, operating, troubleshooting, improving, and administering assigned company processes, systems, plant and equipment.
Responsibilities:
• Operates and maintains systems and equipment during project delivery, as well as maintenance, demonstration, and training purposes, and an efficient workflow.
• Maintains accurate records in information systems for finance, inventory and operations, while also providing analyses, reports, recommendations and improvements to optimize overall operations.
• Assists in preparing contingency plans and executing them during emergencies or breakdowns.
• Coordinates with departments, contractors, subcontractors, and clients in the delivery of service, maintenance of equipment, systems and procedures. Provides for continuing competency and development of the WLS team by identifying, recommending, participating in, and delivering training to peers and subcontractors.
• Prepares reports for approval in relation to contract and Division deliverables, Quality Assurance and Control, Health and Safety and environmental legislative and regulatory compliance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Post secondary education in a related field and/or experience as a journeyman in a related trade, with a minimum of five years’ working experience in a related field.
• Knowledge and experience cleaning, lining, and disinfecting watermains sufficient to work independently and reliably.
• Experience and/or certification in Municipal Water Operations is an asset.
• Must be able and willing to participate in strenuous work, working with tools and equipment. Must be able to lift to a maximum of 50lbs.
• Strong knowledge of safety legislation, codes, standards, and practices as they relate to construction.
• Experience working with chemicals and solvents in compliance with WHMIS and TDG.
• Working knowledge of CVOR, HOS and DVIR
• Good oral and written communication skills to keep logs and complete reports.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.
• Must be able to work extended hours and travel for extended periods as project work requires.
• Must obtain and maintain a valid Ontario driver’s license. Minimum DZ or AR.
