A 50-year-old woman with no driver’s licence is facing impaired charges after being pulled over at the border last week.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Nov. 8, members of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) notified Sault Police that they had detained a suspected impaired driver.

When officers arrived, they collected multiple breath samples from the woman. All of them registered above the legal limit, police allege.

Police say they also discovered that the woman was prohibited from driving and did not have a licence.

Shauna Lyons is charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
  • Operation While Prohibited
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence (under the Highway Traffic Act)

The suspect was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled back in court on Dec. 9.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Lyons is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
