A Sault Ste. Marie woman accused of stealing more than half a million dollars is no longer employed as a financial manager with Eazy Express, says the company's president.

Earlier this week, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service reported 50-year-old Lorraine Lariviere was charged with fraud over $5,000 on Dec. 12 after approximately $559,701.63 was stolen from the accounts of a local business.

The charge has not been tested in court and Lariviere is considered innocent unless proven guilty.

Court documents show the alleged theft occurred between June 1, 2020 and Aug. 31, 2024 from the operating and savings accounts at Eazy Express, with the money being transferred to an American Express card.

Eazy Express owner and president JoAnne Brooks declined to comment, but confirmed that Lariviere is no longer employed at the company.

A LinkedIn profile for Lori Lariviere lists her as finance manager for Eazy Express.

"I am hard-working, dedicated, loyal and responsible," said Lariviere in the About section of her profile.

SooToday reached out to Lariviere for comment through her Facebook account but did not receive an immediate response.

The Sault Police issued a news release that said detectives with the fraud unit began investigating the case in late August

Lariviere will appear in court on Feb. 10, 2025.
