Woman facing charges after vehicle stolen from driveway

A woman is facing several charges after a vehicle was stolen from a Poplar Avenue driveway.

Sault Ste. Marie Police were called to the area at around 8 a.m. Monday.

They say various keys, mail, a wallet, and other items were also taken.

Officers found the stolen vehicle on Towers Street, police allege.

“The other property, along with the accused, were located in the 100 block of Pim Street,” police said in a news release. 

“In addition to the stolen property, a search found the accused to be in possession of break-in tools, a knife opening by centrifugal force, a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine and fake Canadian currency.”

Jennifer McMillan, 38, has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Carry Concealed Weapon
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000
  • Possession of Break In Instruments
  • Possession of Counterfeit Money
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order x2

The suspect was held in custody pending a bail hearing and has been remanded.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
