Two weeks after pleading guilty to 11 offences and receiving an 18-month probation order, a Sault Ste. Marie woman is back behind bars for allegedly hitting two people while trying to steal their bags.

At around 9:30 a.m. yesterday, someone phoned 911 to report a disturbance in the 200 block of Wellington Street West.

“Upon arrival, officers learned that the accused had damaged property within the residence and assaulted someone outside,” says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “They spoke with a victim who reported the accused had punched and elbowed them before taking their bag and running away. The accused and the victim are known to one another.”

Police say that while officers were on their way to the Wellington Street West location, another victim was struck several times in the 300 block of John Street by a person trying to steal their bag.

Shannon Boyer, 41, is charged with:

  • Robbery x2
  • Mischief
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order x2

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing. None of the allegations have been tested in court and she is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
