A woman is facing multiple charges, including impaired and dangerous driving, after a downtown collision last night.

At around 8 p.m. Thursday, Sault Police were dispatched to the intersection of Bay and Dennis streets after one vehicle rear-ended another at a red light.

After speaking to the driver, police say they developed grounds to believe she'd been drinking.

Officers tried three times to get the woman to provide a breath sample but were unsuccessful, police allege.

After the woman was arrested, police say she refused further demands for a breath sample.

Wanda Roy, 52, is charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Dangerous Operation

She was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled back in court on Jan. 15, 2024.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Roy is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
