Two chocolate bars

Yesterday afternoon City Police attended at the Zellers Store in the Station Mall regarding a shoplifter.

It is alleged that 19 year-old Kyle Parnell of 772 Wellington Street East walked out of the store without paying for two chocolate bars.

The accused was apprehended by store security and turned over to City Police.

Mr. Parnell has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and will appear in court on November 1st.

Break-ins

City Police received four reports of break and enters yesterday:

1) A home in the 100 block of Maki Road was entered and a quantity of jewellery was taken.

2) A home in the 100 block of Gladstone was also entered. Jewellery, a stereo and a game cube were taken in this incident.

3) A home was entered in the 700 block of Wellington Street East but nothing was taken

4) A home in the 700 block of Metzger Street was entered and nine handguns and two rifles were taken. The handguns include three Smith and Wesson .22 revolvers, one Smith and Wesson .38 special revolver, one Colt 9 mm, one Smith and Wesson .357 mag revolver, one Smith and Wesson .32 mag revolver, and one Smith and Wesson 9 mm revolver.

The rifles are both Remington bolt actions.

One is a .280 caliber and the other is a .7 mm caliber.

The firearms are valued at over $5,000.

If you know who is responsible for these break and enters call the City Police at 949-6300.

If you know the whereabouts of the stolen firearms or who is responsible for that break and enter call either the City Police or Crime Stoppers at 942-7867.

Your phone call may be all it takes to get these guns off of our city streets and out of the hands of criminals.

Accident at Henrietta and Moody

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2:40 p.m. City Police attended at the intersection of Henrietta Avenue and Moody Street for an accident with injuries.

A pickup truck being operated by Maria Naccarato of 95 Pozzebon Crescent was traveling eastbound on Henrietta Street when it was struck by a car operated by Margaret Majerczak of 47 Alden Road.

It is alleged that the Majerczak car turned left from Moody Street onto Henrietta Street, after stopping for the stop sign, and then proceeded into the intersection where it collided with the pickup truck.

The Majerczak car then glanced off and struck the front steps of a home in the 100 block of Henrietta.

Both drivers and a passenger in the Naccarato vehicle were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

Margaret Majerczak has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with one count of fail to yield to through traffic.

Damage to both vehicles is described as moderate.
