Operation Impact Enforcement Initiative

This 2012 Thanksgiving weekend, October 5th through to the 8th, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will again partner with police services across the country in rolling out “Operation Impact”.

Operation Impact is sponsored by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police with a coordinated thrust, among all the Police Services participating, to aggressively pursue the goal of Canada’s 2015 Road Safety Strategy in making Canada’s roads the safest in the world.

The campaign this year will again focus on education and enforcement of the “Big 4”, impaired driving, occupant restraint use, and all aspects related to aggressive and distracted driving: behaviours that put everyone at risk.

Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will be highly visible over the Thanksgiving weekend here in the City and the Township of Prince.   Drivers, passengers and pedestrians are reminded to consider safety at all times and are being asked to consciously make a difference in road safety starting right here in our community.

Drivers, passengers and pedestrian are reminded, to meet the challenge of saving lives and reducing injuries on our roadways, that an essential duty of policing is enforcement.   Education and compliance is a priority and is everyone’s responsibility.
