Two Counts of Assault & One Count of Breach
A 39-year old male will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested last evening and charged with two counts of assault and one count of breach of a release order. It is alleged that on the 6th of November in the evening hours the accused attended at the address of his ex-girlfriends while on release conditions not to molest, harass or annoy the victim. It is alleged that the accused assaulted the victim by throwing a phone at her and also by grabbing her hand forcefully.
Youth's Charged with Mischief, Assault with a Weapon & Threatening
Last evening it is alleged that a 15-year old youth was damaging a dryer vent at a downtown apartment building. The superintendent arrested the 15-year old youth and held onto him until police arrived. It is alleged that the 15-year old male youth threatened to cut the male superintendent and gestured a pair of scissors in a threatening manner towards him. The male was able to get the scissors away from the youth. During this time it is alleged that the 13-year old male youth, who was with the 15-year old youth, was throwing rocks and sticks at the superintendent. The 15-year old male has been charged with one count of mischief under $5,000, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. The 13-year old male has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon. Both youths will appear in court on December 12th.
Two Females Shoplifting at IDA
Last evening City Police attended at the IDA Pharmacy in the Station Mall for two females shoplifters. It is alleged that 18-year old Irene McKay of 79 Gibbs Street and a 14-year old youth female youth stole merchandise, concealed it and then left the store. The two were stopped by store employees and then turned over to City Police. McKay will appear in court on December 11 and the 14-year old youth will appear in court on December 12th.
UPDATE: Vehicle/Pedestrian Collision
News release from November 7th: Officers from Traffic Services are continuing their investigation into a motor vehicle collision yesterday that occurred just before 12 noon. A 69-year old male was walking northbound on Farwell Terrace in the crosswalk and was crossing Second Line West. A pickup truck operated by a 51-year old male was traveling southbound on Farwell Terrace and made a left turn onto Second Line West and allegedly struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Update: Officers from Traffic Services have completed their investigation into this collision. The 51-year old driver of the pickup truck has been charged with one count of fail to yield to pedestrian under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
There were two reports of break and enters in the last 24 hour period:
1) A home on Patrick Street was entered yesterday between 8:15 am and 3:45 pm and a video camera and money were taken from the residence.
2) A break and enter to a residence in the 400 block of Albert Street East resulted in two computers being stolen last evening. One of the computers, a Dell, was still in the box.
