Hazardous Road Conditions
Today’s road conditions are keeping Patrol Officers quite busy. City Police are urging the public to be aware of hazardous road conditions. Drivers as well as pedestrians are being reminded to allow themselves more time to reach their destinations. Police on patrol are advising that the roadways are quite slippery especially at intersections and are asking drivers to slow down and use precautions while on the roads today.
Collision At Wellington & Churchill
Last evening at approximately 10:00 pm city police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Churchill Boulevard and Wellington Street East. A car driven by 30 yr old Karl Samson of St. Basils Drive was north bound on Churchill Boulevard coming up to Wellington Street East. A car driven by 32 yr old Sarah Thompson of Harten Street was west bound on Wellington Street East coming up to Churchill Boulevard. It is alleged that Karl Samson did not stop for the red light and proceeded through the intersection striking the vehicle driven be Sarah Thompson. City firefighters did attend and had to use the Jaws of Life to remove Miss Thompson from her vehicle. Both drivers sustained injuries to their necks and were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Mr. Samson has been charged with Red Light Fail to Stop under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
Missing Person
Officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police Investigation Services Section are asking the public for information on the whereabouts of Stacy Lucian Dilenardi, age 30. Family and friends have not seen or heard from Mr. Dilenardi since the 28th of November at 1:00 pm.
Stacy Lucian Dilenardi is described as a thin white male, age 30, has short brown hair, brown eyes, and may be wearing glasses.
Family members and City Police have been unable to locate this missing person and are concerned for his well being. This missing person may be driving a burgundy 2003 Chevy Cavalier, and plate number ASCE 671. This is unusual behaviour for Stacy Dilenardi.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the City Police at 949-6300.
Male Charged with Assault
A 39-year old male will be appearing in bail court after being arrested in relation to a domestic situation. It is alleged that on the 26th of November the accused did assault his common-law wife by spitting at her, grabbing her by the throat and punching her in the mouth. The accused also threatened to kill her. Police were called to the East end residence and at the time of the investigation the accused could not be located and his whereabouts were unknown. On the 29th of November at approximately 11:00 pm the accused was located and arrested. The accused has been charged with 1 count of assault and 1 count of threatening death or bodily harm. He will be appearing in court this morning.
Domestic Dispute
Yesterday City Police attended at a down town residence in regards to a domestic dispute. It is alleged that at approximately 7:00 am a 49-year old male attended at his ex-girlfriends residence and started an argument with her. At the time of the incident the accused male was on a release order not to molest harass or annoy the victim and to not be at her residence. The accused was located at a downtown establishment at about 7:40 pm and was arrested and charged with 2 count of breach of recognizance. The accused will appear in bail court today.
Breach of Recognizance
19-year old Steven Mousseau of 470 Wellington street east will appear in court on January 9th, 2006. The accused turned himself in at the police station yesterday afternoon. The accused had been on a release order to notify his change of address and had failed to do so. The accused was arrested and was charged with 1 count of breach of recognizance.
