People to Appear in Bail Court Today
1) 53-year old Bernie Agawa of 192 Frontenac Street was arrested yesterday on outstanding warrants. He has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of mischief under $5,000. On the 31st of October the accused attended at the address of a male known to him. When the male refused to allow the accused into his home it is alleged that the accused threw an empty beer bottle at the victim and also broke a window at the victim’s residence.
2) A 43-year old female was arrested just after 2 am this morning and charged with one count of resist arrest and one count of assault police. Officer attended at a downtown residence for a possible domestic dispute after a 911 call was received. When officers attended at the residence it is alleged that the female refused to open the door and was yelling and screaming at officers. Officers were able to gain entry into the residence and the female continued to scream and yell at the officers. An investigation determined that no assault or threats occurred between the female and the male in the residence. The female was arrested for one count of breach of peace after being warned numerous times to calm down and not yell. It is alleged that the accused pushed at the officers and attempted to kick one of the officers in the head when they were struggling with her. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this incident.
UPDATE on Yesterdays Break & Enter
Yesterday’s news release: On the 20th of November in the afternoon a homeowner on Pageant Drive pulled into their driveway just before 3:30 am and observed a number of teenage kids running from the home. When she entered the residence she found that food had been eaten, the stove had been used and that jewellery was missing from the residence. Other items were also taken and the homeowner is working on a detailed property list for the police. Four of the kids were on foot and several were on bikes. Some had dark clothing on, one had a dark jacket and one had a tan jacket. The investigation is continuing.
Update: Yesterday City Police arrested two 14-year old males in connection with this break and enter. Both youths have been charged with one count each of break and enter and commit an offence. They will both appear in court on January 9, 2007.
Two Counts of Threatening Death or Bodily Harm
44-year old Lawrence Frenette of 117-345 St. Georges Avenue East was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with two counts of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. Yesterday afternoon while speaking with security officers at the Station Mall it is alleged that the accused indicated to the security officers that he had a handgun in his jacket pocket and placed his hand into his jacket gesturing a weapon. City Police were called and the male was subsequently arrested and charged. The accused did not have a weapon on him. He will appear in court on January 8th, 2007.
Fraud Charges Laid
27-year old Bobbi Lynn Ross of 319 Rowell Avenue was arrested yesterday by officers from the Fraud Unit and charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of stolen credit card data and one count of public mischief. It is alleged that in October of this year the accused stole a credit card from a female known to the accused and used the card. It is further alleged that the accused made a false statement to police in November advising that someone else had been responsible for the stolen credit card data and theft. The accused will appear in court on December 18th.
Theft Under $5000
18-year old Arthur Charette of basement-161 Johnson Avenue will appear in court on January 8th. It is alleged that on the 21st of November the accused stole food from both Collings Variety Store as well as City Meat Market. The accused was on probation at the time of the thefts. He has been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation.
City Police received several reports regarding break and enters in the last 24 hour period:
1) A residence in the 100 block of Queen Street East was broken into. It appears that some personal correspondence is the only thing missing from the residence.
2) A homeowner in the 900 block of Queen Street East reported an attempt break and enter to their home last evening.
3) Sometime between 6 pm on the 21st of November and 2:30 am on the 22nd of November County Way was broken into. A laptop was taken from the business.
4) Around 3 am this morning the Paul Mall was broken into. It appears that all of the businesses were entered. It is unknown at this time if anything was taken from the businesses.
More Copper Wire Theft
Yesterday afternoon Phase 4 Electric reported that $7,000 worth of copper wire had been stolen from the business. Officers from Investigation Services are continuing to work on this theft.
