Afternoon news A 42 year old male is in custody facing domestic violence charges and will attend bail court in the morning. It is alleged that on 27 May 2014 at approximately 6:00 p.m.

A 42 year old male is in custody facing domestic violence charges and will attend bail court in the morning. It is alleged that on 27 May 2014 at approximately 6:00 p.m. the accused assaulted his estranged spouse at their shared residence by grabbing her forearms and pinning her against a chair. The accused then threatened her and said he was going to burn down her camp. The victim got away and ran outside to back yard. The accused caught victim again and grabbed her right forearm and throat and pinned her against a shed. The accused threatened to destroy her property, took the victims cell phone and smashed it on ground. The victim then fled.

Police responded to a bear call on the hub trail near the end of Northern Avenue this afternoon.  Trail users are reminded to be vigilant in that area and never approach the animal.

Yesterday morning a break and enter was reported to a residence on Henrietta Avenue. A small amount of money was taken.
 
Yesterday afternoon a break and enter was reported to a residence in the 300 block of North Street. A computer as well as a laptop were taken. 
 
The window of a residence was smashed out in the 100 block of Market Street. It does not appear that anything went missing.
 
A bear was seen in the area of Manitou Drive. The bear retreated to the bush area.
