NEIGHBOURS WITH A NOSE

At approximately 2:17 yesterday afternoon city police received complaints of the smell of marihuana coming from an apartment at 41 Princess Crescent, where it is alleged the odor of marihuana was coming from the apartment and officers spoke to 31 year-old Denis Leclerc. Mr. Leclerc was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, cannabis marihuana, after a brief investigation. In addition to a small amount of marihuana city police officers seized some drug paraphernalia. Mr. Leclerc is scheduled to appear in court on June 21st.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE IN WEST END

A 30 year-old Sault Ste. Marie man will appear in bail court this morning after being charged with assault and breach of probation following a domestic dispute in the city’s west end. At the time of the assault the accused was on probation not to molest, harass or annoy the victim. The man was arrested at 5:00 pm last evening at his west end residence. The man is alleged to have slapped the victim in the face. No injuries were reported in this incident.

TURNS SELF IN

On the 6th of May, 2004 38 year-old Kevin Johnson of 1316 Third Line West was scheduled to appear at the city police station to have his fingerprints and photo taken in regards to a previous criminal code charge. When Mr. Johnson failed to appear on that date a warrant was issued for his arrest. Mr. Johnson turned himself in at the city police station last night at 9:27 pm and is scheduled to appear in court on the 21st of June on the fail to appear charge.

CAR WON; BICYCLE NO SCORE

A 17 year-old male was charged after the bicycle he was operating was involved in a collision with a motor vehicle on Trunk Road at 6:48 last evening. The youth was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with changing lanes not in safety after he was alleged to have been driving west bound on Trunk Road and crossed into the path of a west bound vehicle. The bicycle was being operated in the curb lane and the van was being driven in the inside lane when the cyclist turned into the inside lane coming into contact with the motor vehicle. The cyclist was then taken to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
