The following persons will appear in bail court:
1) 37-year old Darren Higgins of 270 St. James Street was arrested last night and charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of personation and two counts of breach of a release order. It is alleged that on the 21st of February the accused stole a $100 hockey jersey from the Roots store in the Station Mall. Officers located the accused yesterday in the downtown area and when initially arrested the accused provided a name other than his own. At the time of the arrest the accused was on a release document to notify his change of address and not to consume alcohol. It is alleged that the accused breached this conditions.
2) 19-year old Andy Metatawabin of 311-138 East Street was arrested yesterday morning and charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 6th of March the accused assaulted a male known to him by punching and kicking him. The victim did not require medical treatment for his non-life threatening injuries.
3) A 35-year old male was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with two counts of assault. It is alleged that on the 5th of March the accused assaulted his estranged wife and stepson by pushed her and by grabbing the male by the throat.
Wawa man Charged with Mischief
23-year old Patrick Fletcher of 6 George Street, Wawa was arrested just before 10 pm last night and charged with one count of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that the accused broke a passenger mirror off of a car at Trunk Road and Adelaide Street. The accused was arrested a short distance away after being followed by the complainant who called police. The accused had been walking in the area of the intersection when the damage took place. The accused will appear in court on April 16th.
The following break and enters were reported in the last 24 hour period:
1) Yesterday afternoon a homeowner in the 600 block of Albert Street West reported that thieves attempted to break into a shed.
2) A home on Douglas Street was entered yesterday morning between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm. It is unknown that was taken at this time.
3) Yesterday between 8 am and 3 pm a residence on Gore Street was entered and several DVD’s were taken.
4) Thieves attempted to break into a home on Henrietta Avenue yesterday between 1 pm and 3:30 pm.
5) A home on North Street was entered been between 5 pm and 9 pm last evening. Items taken include numerous DVD’s and medication.

Watch Out for This Scammer
Yesterday morning a male entered the offices at 111 Elgin Street and advised staff in one of the offices that he was there to inspect the sprinkler system. The male was allowed access to the entire building and office. Just after 1 pm staff at the Mental Health Unit noticed that a wallet had been gone through and money was missing. The male is described as being 5’9” tall with a potbelly and grey balding hair. He was wearing a red sweater, dark pants and no jacket. He also spoke with a French accent. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind business owners, as well as homeowners, not to allow any workers into your business or home if you have not called them. Any legitimate business person will also have some type of identification and do not be afraid to ask to verify who they are with. If they do not have any identification, contact the business and speak to the owner. Also keep your wallets and purses locked up. If someone attends your business and acts suspicious contact the police and report the incident.
