On June 7, 2016 at 7:45 p.m., city police arrested a 28-year-old male on two outstanding warrants related to domestic incidents from 2015. The accused is charged with 7 counts of breach of probation. He will be appearing in bail court on June 8, 2016.
On June 7, 2016 at 5:22 p.m., a 34-year-old male was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, assault with intent to resist arrest, resist arrest and attempt to disarm a police officer. It is alleged that the male left Canadian Tire with 18 fishing lures that he did not pay for. When a loss prevention officer placed him under arrest in the parking lot, it is alleged that he assaulted the officer with the intention of preventing his arrest. Two members of the city police drug enforcement unit witnessed the altercation and when they attended to assist the loss prevention officer, it is alleged that the accused struggled with them as well. When the accused was placed in a cell at the station, it is alleged that he again struggled with officers and grabbed onto an officer’s taser on his duty belt. He will be appearing in bail court on June 8, 2016.
On June 8, 2016, shortly after 3 a.m., city police were called to the Tim Horton’s at 233 Second Line West in relation to a robbery. The suspect male, described as being approximately 6 feet tall, 250 pounds, wearing gloves and sunglasses entered the store and demanded cash from the clerk on duty. The male indicated that he had a gun, but none was seen. The male left the store after being given an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register. The investigation is ongoing.
