At approximately 4 pm on the 4 th of June a 16-year old female left the open secure facility in which she had been sent to. A short time later the female turned herself into the City Police. She has been charged with one count of escape custody.

Last evening at approximately 5:30 p.m. 63 year old Robert Pittendreigh of844 Queen Street East turned himself in at the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Building in relation to an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.  The accused was to attend court on May 27th of this year in regards to an alleged shoplifting incident and he failed to do so.  As such, Mr. Pittendreigh was arrested and he will appear in court on July 8th of this year.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Street Team arrested 34 year old David Richards of 49 Atwater Street last evening for 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.  Officers stopped Mr. Richard’s vehicle Albert Street near Tancred around noon yesterday.  The vehicle was search and as a result, Mr. Richards was found to be in possession of 138 oxycodone tablets (Percocet), three 20mg oxycodone tablets and 3.8 grams of marihuana.  The total street value of the drugs seized is estimated at $1,516.00.  Mr. Richards will appear in court on July 8th of this year.

A 46 year old male will appear in Bail court today to answer to various charges resulting from a Domestic Dispute early this morning.  It is alleged that around 5:30 a.m. the accused went to the residence of his ex-girlfriend and assaulted her by punching her in the side of the head and pushing her.  The accused also caused mischief in the residence by knocking over several items, punching a hole in the wall and pulling out the phone cord.  In addition, it is alleged that the accused threatened to kill the victim.  As a result the accused has been charged with 3 counts of breach of probation, one count of assault, one count of mischief and one count of threatening.
