Picked up on Outstanding Warrants

A 40 year-old male that was wanted on an outstanding domestic assault warrant was arrested on the 19th of June just before 11 pm at his east end residence and charged with one count of assault, one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 16th of June just before 9 pm the accused assaulted his common law wife at their east end residence by punching her in the face. The accused also threatened to kill the victim. The victim received injuries not requiring medical attention. The accused was on probation at the time of the incident with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Break & Enter at T & T Pawnbrokers

26 year-old Alfred Peters of 43 Crawford Avenue was arrested on the 19th of June at 10:15 am at his residence and charged with one count of break, enter and commit one count of theft under $5,000.00 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 1st of June around 1:20 am the accused broke into the T & T Pawnbrokers at 151 Gore Street and stole an X-BOX video game system, a Nintendo Game Cube valued at approximately $160.00. At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The accused is to appear in court on the 23rd of July.

Impaired Driving & Fail to Provide a Breath Sample

50 year-old Ricky Moll of 59 Creery Avenue was arrested on the 19th of June at 7:15 pm on Elizabeth Street and charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of fail to provide breath or blood sample and one count of resist or obstruct Peace Officer. It is alleged that on the 19th of June at approximately 7:06 pm the accused was involved in a single motor vehicle collision by striking and severing a fire hydrant on Elizabeth Street. When officers attended they discovered the accused to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused refused to exit the vehicle for the officers and challenged them to fight. The accused had to be physically removed from the vehicle and continuously swore at the officers. When the accused was brought to the station he refused to provide a breath sample. There were no injuries reported and the vehicle received minor damage. The accused is to appear in court on the 23rd of July.

Female Charged with Assault

An 18 year-old female was arrested on the 19th of June around 1:10 pm at a central area residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 19th of June the accused assaulted her common law husband by punching and slapping him in the face at their east end residence. The victim received injuries not requiring medical attention. The accused is to appear in court on the 25th of July.

Charged with Failing to Appear in Court

21 year-old Natasha Senecal of #108-40 Hynes Street was arrested and charged on the 19th of June at 12:45 pm at the city police station on an outstanding warrant for one count of failing to appear court on the 2nd of October. The accused is to appear in court on the 23rd of July.

Shoplifting at Pantorama

A 17 year-old female was arrested at the Pantorama Store in the Station Mall on the 19th of June at 3:35 pm and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that the accused attended Pantorama Store and stole a shirt valued at $64.99. The accused is to appear in court on the 24th of July.

There were two break and enters reported yesterday.

1) A residence on Macmurray Avenue was entered between the 18th of June after 4:10 pm and the 19th of June 11:15 am. A sony digital camera, a cyber shot, liquor and some money were reported stolen.

2) An apartment on Lake Street was entered on the 14th of June. Nothing was reporting stolen.

Stolen Tombstone

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance regarding a theft of a tombstone that occurred sometime between the end of last summer and the 18th of June. A citizen reported to the police that his parent’s tombstone had been stolen from the Greenwood Cemetery on Fourth Line East. The tombstone is described as black granite, approximately 240lbs, 30.5 inches long, 20.5 inches high and 6 inches thick. The names of his parents John and Margery Selkirk is engraved on the stone. If anyone knows who is responsible for this theft or has any information regarding it, please contact city police at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Motor Vehicle Collision at Andrew & Queen Sts

Officers from Traffic Services attended at a motor vehicle collision at Andrew Street and Queen Street West yesterday afternoon just before 2 pm. It is alleged that a 27 year-old female driver of a Pontiac that was travelling southbound on Andrew Street failed to yield at the intersection and struck a vehicle that was travelling westbound on Queen Street West being operated by a 26 year-old male. The 27 year-old female, Shannon Hicks of 66 Lake Street in Echo Bay was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. She has been charged with one count of fail to yield to traffic on through highway under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
