Male Arrested for Robbery: 19 year-old Nathan Slipperjack of 8 August Street Rankin Reserve was arrested at 1:12 am this morning at his residence and charged with one count of Robbery.
Male Arrested for Robbery:

19 year-old Nathan Slipperjack of 8 August Street Rankin Reserve was arrested at 1:12 am this morning at his residence and charged with one count of Robbery. City police were called to an east end bar just before midnight regarding a male being attacked and robbed. When police arrived they discovered that a 20 year-old male, that had just left the bar, had been approached by four males in the parking lot. It is alleged that one of the males, the accused, demanded the chain that he was wearing and when he refused the male attacked him. The accused punched the victim in the face several times until he handed the chain over. The accused and the other males fled on foot prior to police arrival. City Police, with assistance from the OPP Canine Unit, located the accused at his residence a short while later and he was subsequently arrested. He is to appear in bail court this morning. The victim received non-life threatening injuries during the attack.

Domestic Related Arson Investigation:


At approximately 3:03 am this morning city police and Fire Services attended to a residence in the downtown area regarding a fire. This fire is being treated as an arson investigation and is domestic related. It is alleged that the male occupant and his female common-law partner got into a verbal argument that escalated with the male assaulting the female by throwing a shampoo bottle and an ashtray at her and then attempting to set the home on fire. The male suspect fled prior to Police and Fire Services arrival. The fire was quickly contained. Damage reported was to a bedroom door that had been kicked in as well as window curtains and a portion of a wall being burned. There were four persons inside the residence at the time with no injuries reported. The investigation is continuing. There are no other details to provide at this time.

A 37 year-old male was arrested on the 9th of June at 9:50 pm at his residence and charged with one count of Arson –Endangering Human Life, one count of Mischief under $5,000.00, one count of Threatening Death or Bodily Harm and one count of Assault with a Weapon. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Shoplifter Charged:

18 year-old Brianna Wilkins of 383 First Avenue was charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 on the 9th of June at 11:30 am at the Station Mall after she allegedly attended at the Dollarama and stole five chocolate bars. She was apprehended by store staff and security and held for police. She is to appear in court on the 6th of July.

Male Youth Charged after Assaulting Fellow Student at School:

A 16 year-old male youth was arrested on the 9th of June at 11:25 am at a local high school and charged with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on the 9th of June around 10:35 am the accused got into a verbal argument with a fellow student at the school, poked the male student with a broom handle and then struck him in the head area with it. The victim received a minor cut as a result. The accused is to appear in court on the 14th of July.

Several vehciles were entered overnight in the areas of Morin Street, the 1400 block of Queen Street East, Charlotte Drive and Bay Street. Items reported stolen included an Xbox and games, a stolen permit and insurance card, cash, and tools.

Mischief Reports:

• A rock was thrown through a window of a car parked on Macdonald Avenue.
• A gate was damaged on Fourth Line East
• A fire extinguisher was discharged inside a vehicle parked in the apartment complex lot on Cooper Street.
• A window pane at the bus shelter on McNabb Street was broken.
