Male Causes a Disturbance in Local Bar
At 2:00 AM this morning City Police were called to O’Aces bar at 2 Queen St E. regarding a male person causing a disturbance. Upon arrival officers located the man causing the problem and attempted to arrest him. The accuse resisted the [police and struggled with the officers. The accused was subsequently subdued and taken into custody. Charged with Cause A Disturbance, Resist Arrest and Being Intoxicated in a Public Place is: Timothy Brian Higgins, of 254 Dacey Rd. Apt. # 4. Mr. Higgins will be appearing in court on Mon. Aug 22 at 9:00 AM.
Male Charged with Assault with a Weapon
Early this morning, at 3:50 AM, City Police arrested Robert Scott MacLeod, of 178 Spring St. Apt. #2, and charged him with Assault With A Weapon. It is alleged that at approx. 10:45 PM yesterday evening the accused threw a liquor bottle at a female known to him. The victim was not struck by the bottle and did not require medical attention. Mr. MacLeod will be appearing in court on Monday Aug. 22 at 10:00 AM.
Male Picked up on Dated Offences
Last night, at approx. 6:00 PM City Police arrested a 31 year old male and charged him with several dated offences. The allegations against the male party are that between Feb 2002 and July 19th 2005 he committed Assault X2, Assault With A Weapon, Forcible Confinement X 2 and Mischief against the victim. These charges are in relation to a domestic situation. The accused will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.
Breach of Probation
At approx. 10:45 PM last night City Police arrested a 24 year old male and charged him with Threatening and Breach of Probation. It is alleged that the accused threatened to beat a female victim up and to have others assault the victim as well. At the time of the threat the accused was on Probation. The accused, Landon Allen Lenius of 134 Dennis St. will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.
Theft of Purse from Office
City Police are investigating the theft of a purse from an office in the 100 block of Pim St. Office workers are reminded to lock their valuables in their desks when leave the desk area. Also report any suspicious activity by any persons attending your office.
Theft From Vehicles
The City Police are investigating 6 reports of thefts from vehicle. In three of the theft thieves smashed the car windows to gain entry. The thefts took place at the following locations:

The 100 block of Wilcox Ave.The 200 block of Wallace Terr.

Bush Fire
The City Police and the Sault Ste Marie Fire Dept. are investigating a bush fire that occurred in the fields north west of Chippewa St. at approx. 3:00 PM yesterday afternoon. The fire, which was started by igniting a jerry can on fire, is being treated as an Arson. Anyone that may have seen anyone carrying a gas can in the west end area yesterday afternoon is asked to contact the City Police.
