The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is asking the public’s assistance in locating the person(s) responsible for mischief to Parkland School.

Last night unknown person(s) attended onto the roof of Parkland School, 54 Amber St. and caused damage to the exhaust vents, chimney caps, air intake ducts and to the natural gas piping. Some of the damage resulted in a natural gas leak into the school. The school had to be vented to clear out the gas. It is estimated that close to
$ 4,000 in damages was caused. Any member of the public having information on this crime is asked to contact the Sault Ste Marie Police Service at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Three males to appear in bail court:

1) Yesterday evening at approx. 6:00 city police were called to a centrally located residence regarding an assault. Upon arrival officers spoke to a male and female complaining about a man known to they having broken into their residence and assaulting them. Officers searched the area and located the accused, Nolan Gibbs, age 46, of 47 Vera St. It is alleged that Mr. Gibbs forced his way into the victims’ home and while there assaulted and threatened both victims. Nolan Gibbs is charged with one count of unlawfully in a dwelling, one count of forcible entry, two counts of assault and two counts of threatening.

2) At approx. 2:00 am this morning city police were called to an east end residence regarding an assault. After speaking to two females complainants officers arrested a 23-year-old male. It is alleged that the accused attended at the residence of person known to him and while there assaulted his common-law girlfriend and a second female. It is further alleged that the accused damaged property at that residence. The accused is charged with one count of assault, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of mischief.

3) On Tuesday July 14th at approx. 11:45 am city police arrested a 62-year-old male and charged him with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused attended at the residence of his common-law partner and while there assaulted her.

Youth charged with assault:

Yesterday morning city police arrested a 17-year-old female and charged her with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that in November 2008 the accused assaulted a person known to her. At the time of the assault the accused was on a probation order release. She will be appearing in court on Aug. 18th at 9:30 am.

Four vehicles were damaged in the following locations:
The 300 block of Farwell Terr – car seat burned.
The 100 block of Shoreview Crt – van window damaged.
The 200 block of St. Mary’s River Dr. two vehicles were damaged.

Theft:

A large quantity of tools was stolen from a truck parked in the 400 block of Queen St. E.
Luggage was stolen from a vehicle parked at the Sleep Inn, located at 727 Bay St.
Cash and personal identifications were stolen from vehicles in the 1800 block of Queen St. E. and the 100 block of Princess Cres.
Two bicycles were stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Durban Rd and one bike was stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Allen St.
