SEXUAL ASSAULT (updated 1:30pm today)
Early this morning, at about 3:00, police were called to the General Hospital where a 27-year-old female reported that a 30-year-old male, known to her, had assaulted her. The incident is alleged to have taken place between 11:00 p.m. yesterday and 2:00 a.m. today at the victim's residence. She was treated and released from hospital.

The accused, Derek Crigger of 286 Pine Shore Drive has been charged with assault, sexual assault and breach of recognizance. He appeared in bail court at 1:30 p.m. today.


City police had a fairly quiet night last night answering 60 calls. Three were bear sightings in the Second Line East area. Two drivers were arrested and charged with being impaired. The rest of the calls were of a minor nature with the exception of the above assault.
