Two males will appear in bail court this morning, both charged in relation to the robbery of Wardlaw Fuels from January 15th.

Yesterday 19-year old Damien Sharp, aka Damien Wing, aka Damien Fleming, of 313 Government Road, Echo Bay turned himself into City Police. He has been charged with one count of robbery, one count of pointing a firearm, one count of wearing a disguise, one count of possession of weapons dangerous, use of firearm and two counts of breach of probation.

Early this morning, 30-year old Jamie Bailey of 3-157 Albert Street East turned himself into City Police as well. He has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of breach of a release order.


3 Youths Arrested

On the 22nd of January around 4 pm 3 youths allegedly robbed another youth of his jacket while the victim was walking on Wallace Terrace. The victim was not injured. City Police were contact and officers conducted an investigation into the incident. Last evening officers arrested 3 youths in regards to this incident. A 16-year old youth has been charged with one count of robbery, one 15-year old youth has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of breach of probation and a second 15-year old youth has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of breach of a release order. All three accused will appear in court on February 28th.

Youth Charged with Causing a Disturbance

Last evening around 9 pm City Police attended in the downtown area in the 100 block of Queen Street East regarding a youth causing a disturbance. When officers arrived it is alleged that the 15-year old youth was yelling and screaming and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. When officers arrested the youth for cause a disturbance it is alleged that the youth began to resist the officers and kicked one of them in the leg and spat at the officer a number of times. The youth has been charged with one count of cause a disturbance by being drunk and one count of resist arrest. The youth will appear in court on February 28th.

Break and Enters

Sometime between January 21st and January 24th at 6:30 pm a home in the 100 block of Boston Avenue was entered, but nothing appears to have been taken.

Thieves also attempted to break into a home yesterday between 8:30 am and 9:30 pm in the 100 block of Wemyss Street. Entry was not gained.

Motor Vehicle Collision

Yesterday morning around 10:20 am City Police, Fire Services and Sault Ambulance Services attended in the 300 block of McNabb Street for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. A car operated by 33-year old Cynthia Pinder of Sault Ste. Marie was traveling westbound on McNabb Street. A car operated by Chester Addison, also of the Sault, was pulling out of a civic address and the two vehicles collided. Emergency equipment was utilized to extract Mr. Addison from his vehicle. Both drivers and a child passenger from the Pinder vehicle were taken to the Sault Area Hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The collision is still under investigation.
