Numerous Charges Laid Against Male
21-year old Thomas Kidder of no fixed address will appear in bail court this morning. Shortly after 3:15 am yesterday morning ( January 17th) officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the downtown area that was driving in an erratic manner. It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle failed to stop for officers and sped away. Officers engaged in a short pursuit of approximately 1 km, with speeds over 110 km/h in the downtown area. Fortunately there was little traffic in the area at the time. The vehicle was stopped in the area of Queen Street East and East Street. Further investigation by the officers revealed that the car used by Kidder had been stolen around midnight from the 500 block of Goulais Avenue. Officers also located several car stereos, a CD player and gas cans inside the stolen vehicle. It is alleged that the accused entered 3 vehicles in the downtown area and removed the property from those vehicles. Mr. Kidder has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, one count of operate motor vehicle-flight from police, 4 counts of theft under $5,000, 4 counts of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of possession of house breaking tools, three counts of breach of a release order and one count of mischief under $5,000.
Female Charged with Breach of a Release Order
22-year old Crystal O’Hara of 209-721 Pine Street will also appear in bail court this morning. It is alleged that yesterday afternoon officers attended at the address for a disturbance call. A query of the accused revealed that she was on a release order with conditions not to consume alcohol. It is alleged that the accused was under the influence of alcohol. When officers arrested the accused for the breach it is alleged that she struggled with the officers and kicked one of them in the thigh area. She has been charged with one count of breach of a release order and one count of assault police.
Male Charged with One Count of Unlawfully in a Dwelling
A homeowner in the 100 block of Manilla Terrace had a surprise last night just after 9 pm. It is alleged that 36-year old Troy Aikens of 749 Wellington Street East entered the residence and began to undress himself. The homeowner called the police, as they did not know this male, and kept him at the home until police arrived. The accused was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident and was on a release order not to consume alcohol. Mr. Aikens has been charged with one count of unlawfully in a dwelling house and one count of breach of a release order. He will appear in bail court this morning.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
City Police responded to 8 motor vehicle collisions yesterday, none of which had injuries. Several of the collisions occurred in parking lots. With the amount of snow out there, motorists are reminded to clean their vehicle windows off.. Also the roads may be a little slippery, especially in snow-covered areas, so adjust your driving to the road conditions.
Break and Enter
City Police had one report of an attempt break and enter in the last 24-hour period. Last evening a homeowner in the 100 block of Curran Driver report the attempt break and enter to the residence.
