YOUNG OFFENDERS PICKED UP A break and enter to a residence in the downtown area of our city led to the arrest of 6 young offenders late yesterday afternoon.
YOUNG OFFENDERS PICKED UP
A break and enter to a residence in the downtown area of our city led to the arrest of 6 young offenders late yesterday afternoon. Several pieces of electronic equipment, video games, a cordless phone and jewelry were taken from the residence during this midday break-in.

Patrol officers investigation led them to a residence in mid-town where several articles of stolen property were located. The 6 young offenders will appear in bail court this morning on charges of possession of stolen property, breach of probation and breach of undertaking.

DRUG CHARGES
An officer arrested a 43-year-old woman yesterday at the courthouse for outstanding drug related charges. In June of last year officers searched the residence of the accused woman and found a large quantity of drugs.

Linda Cecile Wilson of 289 Kingsford Rd. will appear in court in mid February to face charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

STOLEN PROPERTY
On Monday officers from the Investigation Branch arrested and charged 22 year-old Ricky Penney of 233 Glasgow Avenue with possession of stolen property. Mr. Penney was in possession of a computer believed to have been taken from a break-in to Wm. Merrifield School over the Christmas break. He will appear in court in mid February.

Motor vehicle collisions
A collision at 4:23pm yesterday afternoon resulted in both drivers being charged under the highway traffic act. The vehicle being driven by Nicole Mattila, age 23, of 261 Alexandra Street was southbound on Wellington St. West at the Second Line intersection when the second vehicle being driven by 39 year-old Walter Evans of 386 Rowell Avenue, attempted to make a left turn from Wellington St. onto Second Line. The 2 vehicles collided in the intersection.

Mr. Evans is charged with Left turn across the path of approaching vehicle and Miss Mattila is charged with Amber light-fail to stop. Miss Mattila received minor injuries in the accident that demolished her car and caused severe damage to the Evans vehicle.

At 10:09 am a collision at the intersection of Dennis Street and Bay Street resulted in one charge being laid. Gordon Broadbent, 55 years old of Richards Landing was driving east on Bay St. when he went through the intersection at Dennis St. on a red light.

Judith Hupponen, age 40, of 56 Malabar was operating the vehicle, which was struck while proceeding south on Dennis Street. Mr. Broadbent was charged with Red light-Fail to stop. Both vehicles received moderate damage and no injuries were reported
