Motor Vehicle Collision

Yesterday afternoon just after 1 pm City Police attended on McNabb Street in the 200 block for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. An SUV operated by Tammy Buchanan of Echo Bay was attempting to pull out of a civic address in the 200 block of McNabb Street. A vehicle that was traveling westbound stopped to allow the Buchanan vehicle to cross the curb lane of traffic and waved to the Buchanan vehicle to go ahead. The Buchanan vehicle pulled out and crossed the curb lane and center lane and then collided with a pickup truck operated by Bruce Eddy of 200 Millcreek Drive. Mr. Eddy was taken to the Sault Area Hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles sustained severe damage. Tammy Buchanan has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of fail to yield from driveway.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind motorists that it is their responsibility to ensure that the roadway is clear and it is safe to enter. The City Police frequently see motor vehicle collisions such as the one above because the driver relies on someone else waving them to proceed, when there is another lane of traffic that may still be moving.
