Police Seek Witnesses
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is looking for witnesses to a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Monday February 5th just after 2 pm at the intersection of Bay Street and East Street.
At approximately 2:15 pm officers attended at the collision which involved a black car and a red car. A 31-year old female was operating the black car eastbound on Bay Street. A 48-year old male was operating the red car southbound on East Street. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. No one was injured in the collision. Damage to the black car was light and the damage to the red car was moderate.

Man Charged For Assault from Feb. 1
A 22-year old male turned himself into the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service yesterday morning as he was wanted on warrants in relation to a domestic related matter. The accused will appear in bail court this morning regarding one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm, one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. The domestic related incident occurred on the 1st of February and involved an ex-girlfriend.
23 Motor Vehicle Collisions
Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were kept busy yesterday investigation a number of motor vehicle collisions. Between 10:30 am and midnight officers received 23 reports of motor vehicle collision. One collision sent two persons to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Yesterday afternoon just after 3 pm a car operated by a 34-year old male was traveling eastbound on Second Line West near Nixon Road when it began to spin. A car operated by a 21-year old male was traveling westbound on Second Line West and tried to swerve avoid the other car, but the two vehicles collided. The car operated by the 21-year old male ended up in a ditch. The 34-year old male and a passenger from his vehicle were both taken to the hospital by ambulance. Both vehicles were demolished in the collision. No charges have been laid at this time. The roads were described as poor and there was also drifting and blowing snow.
Reminder: SLOW DOWN
Once again the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind motorists to slow down and adjust your driving to the road conditions. A lot of snow came down overnight and crews from the City Board of Works continue working to clear the snow. Main roads are plowed and can be slippery especially near intersections. Secondary roads may still be snow covered. Clear the snow off of your vehicle and ensure you have good visibility before you head out. Allow yourself a little extra time. Motorists are urged to be extra cautious in the school areas were children are.
There were two reports of attempt break and enters in the last 24-hour period:
1) Yesterday at noon hour a homeowner on Young Street reported that someone had attempted to break into the garage.
2) Last evening a homeowner on Murphy Street reported that someone attempted to break into their home around 9 pm but was scared off by the homeowner.
