MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING WOMAN
On Monday, a 45-year-old male from Elmwood Avenue allegedly assaulted a 23-year-old female by kicking her in the stomach and then pushing her down a flight of stairs.
The victim went outside where she and the accused argued. Once outside, the accused slapped her on the left side of the face with an open hand and then punched her on the top of the head.
Yesterday morning, police transported the victim to hospital where she was treated for minor injuries. Patrol officers arrested and charged the male with Assault. He will appear in court on March 10th.
MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING EX-GIRLFRIEND
On Sunday February 2, 2003, at an apartment on Wellington Street East, a 21-year-old male allegedly assaulted a 22-year-old female by beating the victim about the head and face area.
The assault occurred after the male (an ex-boyfriend of the victim) went to the same party as the victim. The accused escorted the victim to her apartment and argued with her along the way.
Once in the apartment, the victim was knocked out by the assault and woke later on the floor in a pool of blood. The victim's injuries included a closed right eye, numerous marks and bruises to eyes and nose / mouth and she also suffered some loose teeth.
A friend of the victim took her to the hospital for treatment. Yesterday at 2:30 pm, police officers began an investigation into the incident and at 4:06 pm the accused went to the police station and turned himself in. He has been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm and will appear in Bail court today.
ARRESTED ON OUTSTANDING WARRANT
At 3:20 this morning, patrol officers were called to the Mikes Mart on Pine Street at McNabb where they located James Laplante, age 38 of 188 Church St. Apt. 3.
Police record checks revealed that he had an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court. Officers arrested and charged him with this offence. Laplante is scheduled to appear in court on March 10th.
TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS
Yesterday the Police Service investigated 17 minor motor vehicle collisions. Inclement weather continued to play a key role in the number of motor vehicle collisions in the city.
