Two persons will appear in bail court this morning:
1) A 44-year old male was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and three counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 27th of February the accused threatened to kill his girlfriend. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with a number of conditions including not to communicate with the victim and not to molest harass or annoy her.
2) A 44-year old male turned himself into the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service yesterday afternoon after he and his ex-girlfriend got into an argument in a centrally located home. It is alleged that the accused threw a chair at the victim and stuck her as well as striking her in the face. When the accused turned himself into police officers learned that the accused was wanted on outstanding warrants for a domestic dispute from 2001 involving the same victim. The accused has been charged with one count of assault, two counts of breach of a release order from the incidents on the 27th. The accused also faces charges of one count of assault, one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of fail to appear in court from the 2001 incident.
Charged with Threatening
47-year old Ronald Williams of main floor 680 Bay Street was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that he threatened to harm a female known to him. This is not a domestic related incident. The accused will appear in court on April 2nd.
Sexual Assault & Sexual Interference
45-year old James Lamon of 78 Glenwood Avenue was arrested last night by officers from Investigation Services and charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference. It is alleged that in March of 2004 the accused touched a young female under the age of 14 years in an inappropriate manner. The accused and victim are known to each other. The accused will appear in court on April 2nd.
Breach & Possession of Stolen Property
A 16-year old youth was arrested last evening and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). It is alleged that the accused had a pair of running shoes that had been taken from a shed on Robin Street, which had been broken into earlier in the day. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with terms to keep the peace and be good. The youth will appear in court on April 3rd.
Two Counts of Theft Under $5,000
20-year old Joshua Dauphin of 483 Second Avenue was arrested yesterday morning and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on January 24th and February 1st the accused took food from No Frills on Korah Road. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He will appear in court on April 2nd.
Three Counts of Theft Under $5,000
A 17-year old youth was also arrested yesterday morning and charged with three counts of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 24th of January, the 14th of February and the 18th of February the accused took food from No Frills on Korah Road. The accused will appear in court on March 27th.
Break & Enter
30-year old Jonathan Lock of 2-42 Hawthorne Avenue turned himself in yesterday to officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. It is alleged that in July of 2004 the accused entered the Beer Store on Bruce Street, after it was closed, through a door that had been inadvertently left unlocked. It is alleged that the accused left the store but returned and entered the store a second time and removed 2 cases of beer. The accused has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence and will appear in court on April 2nd.
Motor Vehicle Collision on Bay & Elgin
Yesterday afternoon officers from Patrol Services attended at Bay Street and Elgin Street for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. A van operated by a 37-year old female was traveling southbound on Elgin Street. A pickup truck operated by a 36-year old female was traveling eastbound on Bay Street and allegedly failed to stop for a red light and struck the van operated by the 37-year female. This van then stuck a van operated by a 42-year old female who was stopped on Elgin Street at Bay Street. A passenger in the van operated by the 42-year old female was taken to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Both the van operated by the 37-year old female and the pickup truck were severely damage. The van operated by the 42-year old female was moderately damaged. The 36-year old driver of the pickup truck was charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of red light fail to stop.
