On February 23 city police detectives arrested 29-year-old Matthew Hammond of Douglas Street on outstanding warrants.

On February 24, 2016, a male turned himself in at the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service regarding outstanding warrants. The accused was arrested and the warrants were executed. The accused is charged with failing to re-attend court when directed, theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation. The accused Ryan John Young, age 23 attended in bail court on February 24, 2016 at 10 a.m. 

On February 24, 2016 City Police observed a vehicle in the downtown area allegedly turn onto Bruce Street and proceed to cross two lanes into the oncoming lane before navigating back into the proper lane. The driver of the vehicle continued to show obvious signs of impairment.  A check of the driver revealed that she had a strong odour of alcohol on her breath. The accused was arrested for having care and control of a motor vehicle. After attending at the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service a second charge of consuming over the legal limit was laid. The accused Dolores Ann Cowan, age 44, is scheduled to appear in court on April 4, 2016, at 9 a.m. 

On February 24, 2016 a male turned himself in at the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service regarding outstanding warrants. The accused was arrested and the warrants were executed. The accused is charged with assault x 2 and fail to attend court. The accused Josh Bougie, age 22, is scheduled to appear in court on April 4, 2016 at 9 a.m.

On February 23 city police detectives arrested 29-year-old Matthew Hammond of Douglas Street on outstanding warrants. The accused was wanted for failing to appear court and fingerprints from early in 2015 as well as a possession of stolen property which included a guitar from November 2015. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on March 21.

On February 23 city police officers attended to Food Basics on Trunk Road regarding a shoplifting complaint. The accused male went through the cashier and paid for some items but failed to pay for over $54 in assorted grocery items he had hidden on his person. As a result, 42-year-old Darrell Johnson of Waabing Mikun Street was charged with theft under $5,000 and will be appearing in Provincial Court on March 21.
