Male Arrested for Assaulting Cab Driver
On the 1st of February at 10:20 am officers arrested 24 year-old Jean-Claude Paquette of 29 Riverin Avenue at his residence and charged him with one count of assault, one count of mischief and one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that at approximately 9:15 am on the 1st of February the accused took a cab from Peoples Road to a Manitou Park location. On route, the accused got into a verbal argument with the driver regarding the fare and assaulted him. When the accused got out of the cab, he broke the rearview mirror. The accused was in an intoxicated state at the time and was on conditions that he not consume any alcohol. The cab driver was not injured. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Domestic Related Arrest for Bail Court Appearance this Morning
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 49 year-old male that was wanted on an outstanding domestic related warrant at 8:25 pm last night at his residence. He was with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation for allegedly assaulting his common law partner at their residence on the 20th of January. At the time of the incident he was on probation to keep the peace and be good.

Impaired Driving Arrest
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 54 year-old Jacques Sageloly of #2-539 North Street at 6:18 pm last night on McNabb Street and charged him with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the 1st of February at 6:08 pm the accused was involved in a motor vehicle collision on McNabb Street involving his vehicle rear-ended another vehicle stopped for a red light on McNabb Street at Great Northern Road. As police were arriving, the accused attempted to drive away from the scene but was quickly stopped a block away. At the time he was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested. There was no injuries reported and minor damage was reported to the vehicle of the accused. He is to appear in court on the 7th of March.

Female Youth Arrested for Mischief and Assault at Local Youth Home
A 12 year-old female youth was arrested by officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service yesterday afternoon at a local youth home and charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief. It is alleged that police received a call regarding the youth being out of control and throwing things around inside the home. When they attended they discovered that the accused caused damage to a door in the home and assaulted a staff member. The accused is to attend in court on the 1st of March.

Motor Vehicle Collision Involving Five Motor Vehicles
At approximately 8:58 am on the 1st of February, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision involving five vehicles, one being a school bus. The collision occurred in the east bound lanes of Second Line East just east of North Street. It is alleged that the driver of a blue Chevrolet made a lane change that triggered the multi vehicle collision. The school bus was transporting children at the time, but an exact number of passengers are not known. There were no injuries reported in the collision. The driver of the Chevrolet, 65 year-old Donald Marles of 69 Broadview Drive has been charged with one count of change lane – not in safety, under the Highway Traffic Act. Most of the vehicles involved received minor damage.

Theft
Scrap metal consisting of a stove, washer and dryer was reported stolen from a business the property on White Oak Drive.
