MAN ARRESTED WITH GUNS & DRUGS Yesterday at 4:45 pm, police officers from the Emergency Services Unit located Stanley Stiber, age 59 of 440 Hudson St., on Allard Street with a quantity of morphine.
MAN ARRESTED WITH GUNS & DRUGS
Yesterday at 4:45 pm, police officers from the Emergency Services Unit located Stanley Stiber, age 59 of 440 Hudson St., on Allard Street with a quantity of morphine.

Officers then executed a search warrant at Stiber's home and seized three restricted handguns being: 1) Sturm Ruger .22 calibre revolver, 2) a Browning 7/65 mm semi-automatic pistol and 3) Sturm Ruger .357 magnum revolver.

These three handguns were not locked or secured in any manner and were stored in the same bag as ammunition. Stiber did not have a Firearms Acquisition Certificate, a Possession Acquisition Licence or a Possession Only Licence in relation to the firearms.

A police records check indicated that the Sturm Ruger .22 calibre revolver was stolen in Ottawa in 1988.

Stiber was arrested and charged with two counts of Possession of Drugs, four counts of Careless Storage of Firearm, Device or Ammunition, three counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, three counts of Possession of a Restricted or Prohibited Weapon, and Possession of Stolen Property. He will appear in bail court today.


SHOPLIFTERS ARRESTED
Yesterday at 2:56 pm, police officers were called to Sears for a male and female shoplifter. Security observed the male make numerous attempts to free a cologne tester from the display case in front of the female accused. Finally having freed it, it was concealed in a plastic bag.

Security apprehended them and found in the possession of the female, a pair of Pantorama pants and one blue "SW" shirt from an unknown source.

Police officers arrested and charged Roger Vienneau, age 26 and Jami-Lee MacKenzie, age 20, both from 606 Wellington Street East with Theft under $5,000.00 and Possession of Stolen Property. Mackenzie faces an additional charge of Possession of Stolen Property. They are scheduled to appear in court on March 17th.


SEXUAL ASSAULT
On the February 5, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a 15-year-old male went to a Pine Street residence where he found the 13-year-old victim alone.

The accused attempted to have intercourse and oral sex with the victim. The accused, who knew the victim, tried to entice the victim on two occasions, into having sexual relations with him.

The youth did fondle and rub up against the victim. The accused was on two probation orders, both with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, which he breached.

On February 11th at 6:55 pm detectives arrested and charged the male with Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Invitation to Sexual Touching, and two counts of Breaches of Probation. The youth will appear in bail court today.


BREAK & ENTER
At 8:00 am yesterday morning staff from the Algoma Health Unit reported that their office at 128 Queen St. East had been broken into. Thieves smashed the front door to gain entry.
