Two Sault Ste Marie residents have recently received mail from Spain advising them that they were one of 17 international “WINNERS” of $ 815,810.00 U.S. To claim their prize the “WINNERS” NEED ONLY TO REMIT ALL THEIR PERSONAL AND BANKING INFORMATION.

NEED ONLY TO REMIT ALL THEIR PERSONAL AND BANKING INFORMATION.

This latest version of a bank scam is believed to be tied to a Nigeria Fraud Ring operating out of Spain.

Anyone receiving notification of winning this or any other lottery should contact the police.

P.S. The prize money had to be claimed before Jan 7th, 2003.


PEOPLES RD. BREAK IN

Yesterday afternoon, between 1:00 PM and 3:00 Pm unknown person(s) broke into a residence in the 800 block of Peoples Rd. Police do not have any suspects at this time.

STOLEN VEHICLE

City Police are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle from the 400 block of Korah Rd. A resident reported that their 1993 Plymouth Sundance licence # AKCB 485, was stolen. The vehicle had been parked overnight on Korah Rd.

SPIRITS DID HIM IN

At approx. 4:00 pm yesterday afternoon, City Police were called to attend at the Station Mall L.C.B.O. Store in regards to male trying to get into the spirit Christmas. Unfortunately the male was trying to steal some of the store’s spirits. As a result Dwayne Assiniwai, 22 , of 145 Pim St. Apt. # 3 was charged with Theft Under $ 5,000.00 he will be appearing in court on Jan 26th at 9:00 AM.

IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE

At approx. 2:41 AM this morning City Police were called to the intersection of Wellington St.E. and Trunk Rd. to investigate a single motor vehicle accident. The accident occurred when the driver failed to negotiate the turn and sheared a utility pole off at its base.

The pole, located on the southeast corner of the intersection, held the traffic light standard as well as a streetlight. The driver was very fortunate to walk away from this accident without any injuries.

But the driver, Brandon Lelievre,
22, of 39 Ferguson Ave, will be walking for the next little while as he was given a 90-day suspension for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. He will be appearing in court on Jan 26th at 9:00 AM.
