ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON
Yesterday at approximately 3:30 am the accused, Bernard Agawa, age 50 of 78 Adrian Drive, started arguing with another male known to him. During the argument, Agawa allegedly pulled out a knife as he was leaving and threatened to kill the male with it. The victim took the jack knife from the accused and the accused left the residence. The victim received minor cuts to his fingers. Once outside the east end residence, the accused threw a bottle at the living room window and left. Later on that morning the accused threatened the victim by stating he was going to shoot him. At 5:40 am on the 9th of December 2003 patrol officers located the accused in the area of the Sault Area Hospitals. He was arrested and charged with two counts of Threatening, Assault with a Weapon and Breach of Probation. He will appear in bail court.
CAE HAD STOLEN PLATES
Yesterday at 10:15 pm, patrol officers checked a car being driven by the accused, Thomas Perry, age 29 of 1046 People’s Road on Second Line West near Korah Road. The vehicle was displaying licence plates that were not registered to it. A further check revealed the licence plates were stolen off a vehicle located north of the city. A police records check showed that Perry was on probation to keep the peace. At 10:20 pm patrol officers arrested and charged Perry with Possession of Stolen Property and Breach of Probation. He will appear in court on January 26th.
BREAK & ENTERS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated several break-ins yesterday. Shortly before 8:00 am people opening their businesses frightened off thieves who had entered the Paul Mall. Witnesses advised police that a male was observed running away from the area. A search of the area by officers provided negative results.
Just before 9:00 am patrol officers were dispatched to the break-in of three businesses located at 669 Wellington Street East. Offices entered included the Algoma District Elementary Union Office, the Sault Ste. Marie Northern Planning Board and Money Concepts. Preliminary reports disclose that thieves removed a small quantity of cash, some men’s watches and several older cameras from theses break ins.
At 2:25 pm, patrol officers were called to a private residence on Adrian Drive for a break-in, where thieves stole several household items including a VCR, a chainsaw and a compound saw.
