HIGH SPEED PERSUIT ENDS I closed the news release yesterday by advising that members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service and the O.P.P. were in the midst of a police pursuit.
HIGH SPEED PERSUIT ENDS
I closed the news release yesterday by advising that members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service and the O.P.P. were in the midst of a police pursuit. The City Police were pursuing a stolen vehicle north on Hwy 17 heading towards Wawa. At approx. 7:55 AM yesterday morning the vehicle was stopped in White River and two males were arrested. This incident lasted approx. 2.5 hours. The top speed reached during the pursuit was approx. 140 km/h.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, Anthony Scott Campbell, D.O.B.: 11 Dec 1984, of Qumceult Beach, B.C. is charged with Fail to Stop for Police, Possession of Stolen Property Over $ 5,000, Theft over $ 5,000. The passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old youth, also from B.C., is charged with the same offences. Both persons will be appearing in Bail Court today, Aug 6th. at 1:30 PM.

ASSAULT CHARGE
In other news yesterday the City Police with the assistance of the Anishinabek Police Service arrested and charged Daniel Pine, D.O.B.: 22 Nov 1973, of Garden River with: Assault with a weapon, Breach of Probation and Breach of Recognizance. These charges stem from an incident that took place on July 27th where it is alleged that he assaulted a male person by striking him with a bar stool and an ashtray. He will be attending Bail Court today at 1:30 PM.

MORE BREAK AND ENTERS
The City Police also investigated two reports of break and enters yesterday. In one of Break-ins, which took place in the 500 block of Brunswick Ave., a male was seen leaving the residence. He is described as: a male, 40 years of age, approx. 5’6”, heavy set, with dark bushy hair in a ponytail. He was last seen riding a bicycle.

The second break-in took place in the 400 block of Bush St.

POLICE SEEK YOUR HELP
The Sault Ste Marie Fire Dept. and the City Police are investigating a suspicious fire that took place in the 100 block of Koprash Crt. Anyone having information on the fire is asked to contact the City Police Investigative Services Unit.

VANDALS OUT AGAIN
Vandals were out again last night damaging car. Mischief was caused to vehicles in the 100 block of Pilgrim St., the 100 block of Ontario St., and the 300 block of Wellington St.W.
