FATAL ACCIDENT
At 12:02 this afternoon, the Sault Ste Marie Police Service was called to investigate a multi-vehicle collision on Trunk Road near the East End Husky. Emergency Services were at the location. One male person was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries and four others were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
It has now been learned that one person has died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. No names and or other details will be released until the next of kin have been notified.
The investigation is continuing and the public’s assistance is requested in avoiding the accident scene. The road will remain closed until further notice.
INTRUDER DISCOVERED
Early yesterday morning residents of a home in the 100 block of Manitou Drive were rudely awaken when they discovered an intruder in their house. The suspect, who was carrying a flashlight, fled upon being discovered. The victims report that the suspect stole a camera and some cigarettes. Investigation into this incident is continuing.
THEFTS FROM VEHICLES
There were three reports of thefts from vehicles from overnight. Incidents took place in the 100 block of Parkview Court, the 100 block of Sackville Road and the 100 block of Goulais Avenue.
Thieves stole two movies from a vehicle on Parkview Court. In the Sackville Road incident, culprits stole over 100 CDs, a cell phone and some sunglasses from a vehicle. It is not known at this time what was stolen from the vehicle parked on Goulais Avenue. In all these incidents the vehicles were unlocked.
NEIGHBOURHOOD DISPUTE
At 8:45 p.m. yesterday, a neighbourhood dispute resulted in one person being arrested and charged with Assault. It is alleged that 48-year-old Faye Sim assaulted her neighbour by pulling her hair. Faye Sim, age 47 of 49 Vera Street, is charged with one count of assault. She will be appearing in court on Sept. 13th at 9:00 a.m. Alcohol was involved in this incident.
BREACH OF PROBATION
At 6:15 last evening, city police arrested John Emile Young, age 40 of 737 Dyment Street and charged him with two counts of Breach of Probation. The charges stem from the allegations that the accused went to the person’s address and communicated with that person.
At the time of these offences the accused was prohibited from going within 100 meters of the person’s address and he was not to communicate with her. He will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 a.m.
