Aggravated Assault Last evening officers from Investigation Services arrested 64-year old Gerald Dunn of 546 Cooper Street and charged him with one count of aggravated assault.

Last evening officers from Investigation Services arrested 64-year old Gerald Dunn of 546 Cooper Street and charged him with one count of aggravated assault. It is alleged that on the 30th of March patrol officers attended at the accused home for a disturbance call. When officers arrived they found a 65-year old male in the residence who had been assaulted. It is alleged that the accused punched the victim in the face area causing the victim to fall down. Officers requested an ambulance for the victim who was taken to the Sault Area Hospital where he remains. The accused and victim are known to each other.

79 Hits Of LSD Found On James Street

Yesterday morning officers from Investigation Services, the Street Team and the Joint Forces Drug Unit which is comprised of members from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the OPP Drug Enforcement Section, the RCMP and the OPP NE Region, executed a search warrant at 1-183 James Street. Officers located 79 hits of LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide), 8.3 grams of cocaine and one gram of marijuana. The estimated street value of the narcotics is $2410.00 Officers also seized a quantity of cash. 24-year old Alan Lapierre Junior of 1-183 James Street has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. Also 23-year old Brian Renner of no fixed address is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.

16-Year Old Youth Faces Drug Charges

A 16-year old youth was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. The youth was in the residence of Alan Lapierre Junior at 1-183 James Street when the warrant was executed. The youth will appear in court on May 30th.

20 Motor Vehicle Collisions Yesterday

City Police responded to 20 motor vehicle collisions yesterday with the majority of them occurring between 8 am and 12 noon.

One of the collision resulted in one person seeking medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Just before 7:30 am a car operated by a Beth Grant of 56 Clark Road was traveling southbound on Great Northern Road just south of Sixth Line when her car lost control on the icy road while rounding the curve. The vehicle then slide off the road, rolled over and landed in the ditch. She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision. The vehicle damage was described as severe. A family member took Mrs. Grant to the Sault Area Hospital.
