A 36-year-old woman faces multiple charges stemming from an incident that took place earlier this week.
In a news release issued today, Sault Ste. Marie Police say they responded to a call yesterday around 4 p.m. describing a theft and an assault at a business in the 400 block of Great Northern Road. Officers were dispatched to the business, where they found the accused in custody of a security officer.
Investigation revealed that the accused had filled a shopping cart with items valued at more than $900 and left the business without paying. When confronted by a security officer, the accused kicked, punched, and bit them. The victim sustained physical injuries.
As a result, Alicia Palmer was arrested and charged with:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
- Theft – Under $5,000
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Palmer is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
