A 63-year-old faces assault charges following an incident that took place early this morning.
In a news release issued today, Sault Ste. Marie police say officers responded to a call around 2 a.m. in regards to an assault in the 800 block of Peoples Road. Upon arrival, police located the accused nearby and he was arrested.
Investigation revealed the accused had gotten into an altercation with the victim and struck them in the head with an object, causing serious physical injuries, police said. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment. The victim and accused are known to one another.
As a result, Terry Bedell was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 26, 2025.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Bedell is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
