Vehicle search leads to suspected cocaine, opioids

Search conducted after officers observed what was believed to be an open bottle of alcohol

On March 24, 2019 officers with the Patrol Services division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 37-year-old April Long of East Balfour for possession of a controlled substance.

It’s alleged on March 24, 2019 police observed an open bottle of alcohol in the accused’s vehicle and subsequently conducted a search of the vehicle. As a result of the search police found varying amounts of narcotics believed to be cocaine and opioids.

She was taken into custody and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. She is scheduled to appear in court on May 6, 2019.
