A 15-year-old and a 17-year-old face robbery charges after an incident that occurred earlier this week, Sault Ste. Marie Police say in a news release issued today.

Police say they responded to a call around 1 a.m. Monday morning after the pair allegedly went into a business in the 300 block of McNabb Street, demanded money from a staff member and left the area with cash and merchandise.

Around 5:45 p.m. the same day, police say they responded to an unrelated call in the 100 block of Willow Avenue where they located the pair from the early-morning robbery.

Upon searching, police located the stolen items, and located a prohibited weapon on the 15-year-old.

As a result the pair were arrested and face numerous charges.

The full release, including all charges, is as follows:

On Dec. 20, 2021 officers with Patrol Services charged a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy with robbery.

Around 1 a.m. two people attended a business in the 300 block of McNabb Street, demanded money from a staff member, threatened them and left the area with a quantity of cash and merchandise.

The victim called police after the two people had fled the area.

Around 5:45 p.m. officers responded to a call for service in the 100 block of Willow Avenue on an unrelated matter. At this time, officers developed grounds to believe the two accused were involved in the robbery earlier in the day.

As a result, the two boys were arrested. A subsequent search found both to be in possession of items stolen from the business, and the 15-year-old boy to be in possession of a prohibited weapon.

The 15-year-old boy is charged with robbery, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of stolen property and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. He was held for bail court.

The 17-year-old boy is charged with robbery and possession of stolen property. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on March 1, 2022
