As the implementation of dynamic patrol initiatives continues, the early results are in for the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

For a two-week period between June 30 and July 13, 14 officers spent a total of 84 hours on patrol in the downtown core.

“We understand community members want to have a police presence in the downtown," says Inspector Derek Dewar of Patrol Services.

“In addition to regular patrols in that area, we will continue to implement this initiative throughout the summer, utilizing bicycle, foot and general patrols.”

The initiative saw officers spend 12 hours walking through the downtown core, issuing 12 provincial notices, arresting five people, and responding to 10 calls for service while also attending two community events.

The initiative remains ongoing.
