Two face drug, weapons charges

Police seized suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl during arrest

Police have charged [charges withdrawn] and [charges withdrawn] with weapon and drug offences following an incident that occurred on McNabb Street yesterday evening.

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service alleges that the two refused to leave a business in the 200 block of McNabb Street when asked to do so by a staff member.

"[charges withdrawn] threatened the staff member with bear mace and the two accused fled the area," the release states.

They were arrested a short time later and found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Full text of the news release follows:

On July 13, 2021, officers with Patrol Services charged [charges withdrawn] and [charges withdrawn] with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Around 7:30 p.m., the two accused attended a business in the 200 block of McNabb Street. While at the business, a staff member approached the two accused and asked them to leave. [It is alleged that] at this time [charges withdrawn] threatened the staff member with bear mace and the two accused fled the area.

Police were called and officers located the two accused a short time later and they were arrested. A subsequent search found both accused to be in possession of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. [charges withdrawn] was also found to be in possession of a substance believed to be fentanyl.

[charges withdrawn] is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a controlled substance. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 30, 2021.
