Two arrested after suspected narcotics seized during traffic stop (3 photos)

Drugs seized include fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, and heroin

Police have charged two individuals after a variety of suspected narcotics was seized during a traffic stop on Pim Street last evening.

A news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that Berni Nadon and Michael Hogan-Denis were arrested after officers seized was is believed to be fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, oxycodone, and morphine.

Both of the accused are scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 19.

Full text of the release follows:

On Nov. 17, 2021 around 8:45 p.m., officers with Patrol Services were patrolling in the area of Bruce Street and Pim Street. At this time they observed a vehicle travelling southbound with a licence plate which was registered to a different vehicle.

Officers activated emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of Pim Street. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers identified the driver as 27-year-old Michael Hogan-Denis and the passenger as 43-year-old Berni Nadon.

The initial investigation revealed Mr. Hogan-Denis was wanted for various charges, including flight from police and dangerous operation after failing to stop for police on two occasions Nov. 14, 2021. He was arrested. Further investigation revealed he is a suspended driver and is not to occupy the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle found Ms. Nadon to be in possession of:
    •    approximately 2.54 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl,
    •    approximately 16.85 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine,
    •    approximately 13.06 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine,
    •    approximately 4.67 grams of a substance believed to be crack cocaine,
    •    approximately 2.4 grams of a substance believed to be heroin,
    •    one tablet believed to be oxycodone,
    •    three tablets believed to be morphine,
    •    approximately $1,997 of Canadian currency, and
    •    drug paraphernalia.

She was arrested. The estimated street value of the narcotics seized is $5,968.

Mr. Hogan-Denis is charged with:
    •    dangerous operation x2
    •    flight from police x2
    •    fail to stop under the HTA x2
    •    driving while under suspension under the HTA x3
    •    using plates not authorized for a motor vehicle
    •    breach of probation – keep the peace and be of good behaviour x2
    •    breach of probation – not to occupy driver’s seat of a motor vehicle x3

He was held for bail court and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 19, 2021.

Ms. Nadon is charged with:
    •    possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x5
    •    possession of a controlled substance x2
