DRUG BUST
On Monday, September 29th at approximately 11:00 am police officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant at a residence on Base Line. Officers located a marihuana growing operation in the residence.
Police seized 74 cannabis marihuana plants at various stages of growth, 240 grams of marihuana packaged in different sized containers, 506 grams of dried marihuana, a small vial with suspected cannabis resin and a bag with cocaine reside. Officers also seized numerous items used to grow the marihuana. The estimated street value of the seizure is over $80,000.00.
Police officers arrested and charged Ryan Steinburg, age 28 and Crystal Galbraith, age 24 both of 1166 Base Line with Production of a Controlled Drug, Possession of a Controlled Drug for the Purpose of Trafficking, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Drug and Possession of Stolen Property. They will appear in court on November 17th.
FREE RIDE HOME…NOT.
On Monday, September 29th at 11:00 pm the accused, Brian Levins, age 19 of 51 Algoma Ave. hired a taxi to drive him home from a local bar. Once at his residence the accused could not pay for the cab fare and advised the cab driver his money was in the house.
The accused then went in the house and emerged a short time later with a kitchen knife. The accused waved the knife at the driver. The driver fearing for his safety reversed the cab away from the accused, only to find he was following him.
Patrol officers were called to the scene and arrested and charged the accused with Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Assault with a Weapon and Fraud in Relation to Fares. No injuries were reported in the incident. The accused will appear in bail court today
