POLICE REMOVE UNWANTED GUEST
Shortly before 8:00 last night, city police were called to the 800 block of Frontenac Street for a male to be removed. Upon arrival officers found Clifford Achneepineskum, age24, of Ogoki Post, Ontario sleeping in the complainant’s hammock.
Mr. Achneepineskum was intoxicated and when officers ran a check on the accused they found he was on 2 probation orders not to consume alcohol. The accused was arrested for intoxicated as well as 2 counts of breach of probation. He will appear in bail court today.
ASSAULT BY BITING
A 16-year-old will appear in court on October 26th after being arrested and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that last evening the accused bit the arm of an adult female. The victim did not require medical treatment at the time.
ACCIDENT INVOLVED BUS
Shortly after 7:00 last night, city police were called to the area of Birch and North Streets for an accident with injuries involving a car and a city bus.
It is alleged that a car driven by a 17-year-old was travelling westbound on Birch Street where the driver stopped for the stop sign. The driver of the car then pulled out to cross North Street in front of the city bus, which was travelling northbound on North Street.
The bus struck the car, causing it to spin clockwise, striking a pole and a mailbox. A family member, as a precaution, took the driver of the car to the hospital but the bus driver, 54-year-old Roberta Levar, did not require medical treatment. The three passengers on the bus did not require any medical treatment nor report any injuries at the time of the accident.
The damage to both the car and the bus is described as severe. The driver of the car has been charged with one count of failing to yield to traffic on through highway under the Highway Traffic Act.
BREAK & ENTERS
Yesterday city police took 4 break and enters reports. The first one was to Dock’s Restaurant on Foster Drive where a small undisclosed amount of money was taken.
Officers also took a report of a break and enter to a garage in the 100 block of Grandhaven where a battery booster was taken.
A home in the 1000 block of Lake Street was entered and jewellery and a digital camera were taken.
Jewellery was also taken at a break and enter in a home in the 1000 block of Second Line East.
STOLEN TRAIL BIKE
Around 10:30 last night, city police took a report of a theft of a trail bike. The bike had been in the back of a vehicle in the 600 block of Queen Street when it was removed.
The bike is described as being a 2003 Yamaha Y25 trail bike, blue in color, with no license plate. The owner advised the police it is valued at $10,000.
