PUBLIC REMINDER Once again the public is reminded that as of November 1st there is no parking on city streets between midnight and 6 am. A number of vehicles were ticketed last night.

Once again the public is reminded that as of November 1st there is no parking on city streets between midnight and 6 am. A number of vehicles were ticketed last night. Vehicle owners also risk having their vehicle towed in addition to being ticketed.


MALE CHARGED WITH TWO COUNTS

One male will be appear in bail court today. 25-year old Clifford Achneepineskum of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of probation. Yesterday morning Police received a call of the accused person being in a local restaurant in the City’s east end in an intoxicated state. The accused was on probation with terms not to consume alcohol and to reside in Geraldton. The accused has been charged with 2 counts of breach of probation.

5 PERSONS CHARGED

Yesterday morning around 11 am officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police Services Investigation Section, members of the Joint Forces Drug Unit and officers from the Ontario Provincial Police Crime Unit teamed up and executed a search warrant at 19 Pardee Avenue in Sault Ste Marie. Officers located a loaded sawed off shotgun, ammunition for the shotgun, a flick knife and a butterfly knife. No one in the residence had a licence to possess any of the weapons. The shotgun had been stolen from a break and enter in October from a cottage on Vixen Lake. In addition to the weapons police also seized 6.8 grams of cocaine, 2.9grams of marihuana and 66.5 grams of cannabis resin. The estimated street value of these drugs is $2,090. Police also located a scooter and a mongoose bmx bicycle that had been reported stolen on August 12th to the City Police. 5 persons have been charged with the following offences: one count each of unauthorized possession of a firearm, 3 counts each of unauthorized possession of a weapon, one count each of possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition, one count each of possession of a weapon obtained by crime, 2 counts each of possession of property obtained by crime, 3 counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, and one count each of possession of a controlled drug or substance. The following persons will appear in court on December 13th: 21-year old Ryan Godson-Roy of 19 Pardee Avenue, 22-year old Kari Gregoire of 19 Pardee Avenue and 19-year old Jeff Godson-Roy of 19 Pardee Avenue. A 17-year old youth, not of that address, will appear in court on December 14th. Richard Bouchard, age 19, of 19 Pardee was additionally charged with fail to appear in court and will be bail court this morning.

MALE TURNS SELF IN

A 35-year old male attended at the station yesterday morning and turned himself in on warrants stemming from a domestic situation on the 18th of September. The male has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and will appear in court on December 13th.

FEMALE CHARGED WITH THEFT

Around 4 pm yesterday afternoon Linda Desautel of no fixed address took 4 pairs of jeans from the Sears Store in the Station Mall and left without paying for them. She was apprehended by store security and turned over the City Police. She has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and will appear in court on December 6th.

FIRE IN PLAYGROUND

Shortly before 10 pm last night City Police and Fire Department personnel attended at Sutton Park after receiving a call of the playground equipment on fire. Fire Fighters put out a fire on the slide that left a hole in the red plastic. Damage is estimated at over $1,000. There are no suspects at this time.
