Investigation Continues

Last evening around 8:15 pm City Police attended at the intersection of Second Line West and Goulais Avenue for a report on a motor vehicle collision between a car and a pedestrian. A car operated by 42-year old David Quon of Second Line West was traveling westbound on Second Line West just west of Goulais Avenue when he attempted to stop his car because of a pedestrian in the roadway.  The Quon vehicle started to skid and hit the pedestrian.  The 14-year old pedestrian was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  The investigation is still continuing in regards to this accident.

Police Service Remind The Public

There have been a couple of accidents involving motor vehicles and pedestrians this month.  The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to remind the public that pedestrians should use the walkways when crossing city streets.  Motorists need to pay extra attention in the areas of intersections as the pedestrians may not always cross at the intersection and cross further down the road.  This time of year the roads are slick and motorists cannot stop as quickly as they could in dry conditions.  Pedestrians and motorist alike need to obey the rules of the road.
